Biography

Asylbek Rajiev is a prominent figure in Kyrgyzstan’s tourism industry, known for his significant contributions to community-based tourism. He began his career in 2003 with Community Based Tourism Kyrgyzstan (CBT Kyrgyzstan) and currently serves as its CEO. In this role, he is responsible for the strategic development of VisitKyrgyzstan, an organization dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism in the region. Rajiev is multilingual, fluent in Kyrgyz, English, German, and Russian, which enables him to effectively engage with a diverse range of tourists and stakeholders. 

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the development of tourism in Kyrgyzstan, Rajiev was honored with the title “Man of the Year” by the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic. This accolade was part of the 2019 Kyrgyz Tourism Awards, where the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) project, “Linking the tourism industry to productive activities in the Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic,” was also named “Project of the Year.” Rajiev’s involvement in this project underscores his commitment to enhancing the tourism sector and supporting local communities.
